Wrapped presents in background, words say: A Holiday Pep Talk for Non-Diet Encouragement

It’s a lot: We’re wrapping up the end of the year, have a ton of holiday events, and getting ready for the New Year. Add the always-existing pressures of diet culture and sometimes it can be hard to deal. Here’s a little holiday pep talk, for encouragement on your non-diet journey – save it and read it whenever you need it.

Remember:

You are so much more than these passing moments. You are a multifaceted person with dreams, talents, gifts, and the vibrancy of life! You are part of something much bigger than yourself, and you matter.

Holiday Pep Talk for Encouragement on Your Non-Diet Journey

Here’s a friendly reminder that your worth extends far beyond the contents of your plate, the comments people make, or the events on your calendar!

This season, give yourself permission to focus less on food and more on the reasons you’re truly grateful. Enjoy some time with loved ones, soak in the pleasures of the season, and create meaningful memories.

It’s okay if you’re experiencing mixed feelings around food, friends, family, expectations, or the holidays in general. You don’t have to hide or fight them. You can acknowledge them and also do what you need to do. Or you can pack them up to unpack when it feels safer and more comfortable.

It’s also okay if you’re not struggling at all, and you feel super excited about this whole season. You don’t have to hide your joy!

If diet talk starts to bubble up, know that you can change the subject or the situation. Go for a walk, suggest a game, ask someone about their life – you get to choose how to spend your time!

And if challenging food situations come up, gift yourself some compassion. Take a few deep breaths, grab a small portion of what sounds good, and savor every bite. If you want more, honor your hunger. If food isn’t feeling satisfying, honor your heart, mind, and body and check in to see what else might satisfy more.

You are bold enough to face the situations in your life. You are strong enough to get through them and to ask for support wherever it would be helpful. You are not alone.

You are so much more than these passing moments. You are a multifaceted person with dreams, talents, gifts, and the vibrancy of life! You are part of something much bigger than yourself, and you matter. ❣
