FAQ

It's good to be curious

Here are some general questions about working with me.

Please reach out with other questions – looking forward to chatting with you!

I’m looking forward to our first session and helping you develop a healthier relationship with your food and body.

Exploration: The initial visit is 60 min. This conversation is a deep dive into your unique situation and goals. We’ll review your intake forms and discuss your eating habits, struggles, and hopes. I’ll ask questions to fully understand your history with food and body image.

Preparation: We’ll explore your readiness to embrace intuitive eating, so you can start from self-awareness and have the best chance of success. I’ll share some tips on getting started and help you set realistic expectations.

Planning: Together, we’ll create an initial plan tailored to your needs and goals. We’ll get started right away by picking one or two simple experiments to try before we meet again.

This begins the journey toward nourishing yourself. Please come ready to openly discuss your situation so we can start addressing your goals. I’m excited to partner with you!

Step 1: 15-min Get Confident Call (if we haven’t spoken yet)

This quick call helps us determine if we’re a good fit to work together based on your goals, my approach, medical needs, etc. You can schedule it here.

Step 2: Complete Online Intake Forms

Once we schedule your first appointment, I’ll send you a link to set up your online client account and fill out important intake forms. Please complete these forms at least 24 hours before our first session. It may take up to 30 mins (you can save and come back later).

Step 3: First Appointment

We’ll have our initial session once your forms are submitted. Depending on the situation and service, I may also reach out to your PCP to get a referral for nutrition.

I look forward to connecting soon to start your journey toward a healthier relationship with food! Let me know if you have any other questions.

The initial session is up to 60 minutes, and each follow-up session is 30 minutes. This is easy to fit in your schedule and helps you make progress without being overwhelmed.

We’ll decide the frequency of our sessions together. At different times in your journey, it may be more or less frequent. On average, the timeline is about 3-6 months, with sessions every 1-4 weeks apart. Many of my clients will work toward a sense of stability in the day-to-day, and then check in with me periodically when something changes or when they want extra support (or a refresh!).

I rarely ask my clients to track things related to intake in the typical diet sense (amounts, calories, carbs, macros, water, etc). There may be specific times or certain medical conditions where tracking certain information may be helpful. In these cases, I’ll…

  • remind you that it’s your choice, and provide information on benefits and risks
  • work with you to decide why each piece of information tracked is helpful, and
  • make sure it’s only for a short time and specific purpose

We’ll also check in on how tracking is or isn’t working for you, and any food mindset challenges this may be triggering.

We’ll always end each session with an action step or experiment of your choosing to do between that session and the next time we meet. (I may give recommendations, but ultimately, you’ll be the one choosing and leading your action plan.)

As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I can help you manage and prevent many chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, high triglycerides, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), metabolic syndrome, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), among others.

I use the science of nutrition (including biology, organic chemistry, psychology, behavior change theories, etc) to work with you to come up with creative and lasting solutions that fit your lifestyle, medical situation, and personal preferences.

In addition to understanding the science of nutrition, I’m also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

I can help you figure out what, when, and how much to eat for your specific body. You can find freedom from out-of-control eating, eating for emotional reasons, and/or the need for endless supplies of discipline and willpower. There are no off-limits foods. You can learn to meet your health goals while enjoying your food more than ever before.

It makes sense. You may want to lose weight, change the shape or size of your body, or pursue another aesthetic goal. There are plenty of pressures and information from healthcare, family and friends, the media, ourselves… the list goes on!

And you’ve probably heard a lot of things about only needing to find the right strategy, or use more psychology, or any other tips and tricks and programs that might be out there. You might have even tried them, maybe even with a temporary feeling of success, but it never seems to last (and sometimes feels worse than before).

Imagine instead being able to accept yourself and your body, knowing that it’s okay as it is, while understanding how to make positive changes. Do you feel the burden slowly start to lift?

How freeing would it be to not have to follow food rules, pretend to like veggies, or fear certain ingredients? No more earning or making up for your food. No more driving with the windows down after eating in the car to hide the food smell, or guiltily rushing through foods eaten hastily over the sink.

All the services I provide are from an all food fits, weight-neutral approach.* Let’s see our food and bodies as allies in a fulfilling life, not enemies!

*This can feel like an unusual approach and may not be something you’re familiar with. If you have questions, please reach out to me for a complimentary call to talk about this, your situation, and whether this program is right for you.

While my specialty is working with women, I work with any adult who is a mutual good fit (based on personality, desired/offered therapeutic style, medical conditions, client goals, financial fit, etc)

Let’s connect virtually for a complimentary 15-min Get Confident Call where we can chat about your goals, answer any questions you have, and get to know each other. Gain clarity and confidence in exploring the options on your path to wellness.

Feel free to reach out with any questions – I’m looking forward to getting to know you!
